Choosing Your Toilet: How To Get the Perfect "Throne"

Toilet, rest room, comfort room - no matter what you call it, this room plays a really important role in your house. Besides the bedroom where you can sleep and rest, the toilet is the one place that every house must have mainly for health and sanitary purposes. Although it is one of the most private places in your house and you spend time inside it alone most of the time, it does not mean that you should give it less priority when you design and decorate the entire house.

There are a lot of things to consider if you want to have a perfect toilet. From the right shower head to the tiles that you will put on its walls and floors to choosing the toilet bowl - this room must be one of the most comfortable places in your home. After all, it isn't called a "rest room" for nothing.

To make your comfort room more comfortable you need an efficient, effective and the right toilet bowl for you. For sure if you have been living in the same house for a time now you have encountered some problems with your toilet. Replacing it can really be difficult since there are a LOT of options now when you try to search for one. And a comfortable toilet bowl for one person may not be as comfortable to another which just makes it more difficult to find the perfect "throne".

Knowing how it works may or may not help you choose the right toilet bowl.

One of the things that you should consider when you are getting a new toilet is how it flushes. There is a mandate going on that decreases the amount of water that a toilet should flush from 6 gallons of water to 1 1/2 gallons of water per flush. There are actually some toilets that flushes better than the others like the ones that make sure you don't need to flush it twice just for your waste to go down the drain.

There are actually two types of toilet bowls based on how they flush. One is the wash-down type which uses gravity and wide trap-way and the other is the siphonic type of toilet bowl which uses suction and a narrow passage. Choosing what to get between these two depends on what you think is better for you because both of them works just fine.

Also, most of the toilets now are dual-flushed. Meaning that there are two buttons that you can push depending what you need to flush. This type of toilet bowl flushes less than 1 gallon of water for liquid waste and at least 1 and a half gallon for solid waste, promoting water conservation.

Please push the right button accordingly.

You might also have to choose between one-piece and two piece toilet bowls. Most modern designers recommend one piece toilets since it is easier to clean and maintain. It has no crevice between the tank and the bowl which collects dirt, grime and who-knows-what-might-get-stuck-in-there.

.
So clean you think it's candy.

As mentioned above, a comfortable toilet bowl for you to sit may not be as comfortable for another person's butt. This is because there is a certain size and shape of a toilet that you feel you are most comfortable sitting on. Also, the size and shape of your toilet must depend on the size of your bathroom. A round toilet will save you some space while the more common elongated one will give you a larger sitting area which is preferred by more people. If the person who will use the toilet is an elderly, consider the height of the toilet bowl to be around 14-17 inches from the floor to the seat.

Remember that you must spend time planning your bathroom with your interior designer like you would plan any other room in your house because a clean toilet always makes a difference.
